Westchester officials are warning businesses and land use applicants about new planning and zoning scams.

They say fraudsters are pretending to be local planning and zoning officials, emailing you and demanding fake fees.

Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins says to always double check payment requests with your planning and zoning offices.

"Legitimate correspondence will only come from official government email addresses -- that means it has a dot gov -- and never rely on payment requests coming from unreliable email domains."

If you believe you have been targeted, contact local police and the FBI.
