Dutchess Community College lecturer killed in Adirondacks plane crash

A Dutchess Community College faculty member is dead after a plane crash in the Adirondacks on Sunday evening.
Kenneth Andreu, of Valhalla, was piloting his single-engine Cessna from Poughkeepsie to Piseco Airport around 7 p.m. when he crashed, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
The 74-year-old was the only person aboard the aircraft.
Officials say upon landing at Piseco, Andreu crashed about 150 yards "off field" of the airport.
He was declared dead at the scene.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the incident.
Andreu was a faculty member within the Dutchess Community College Aviation Maintenance Technology program for just over five years.
The college released the following statement to students and staff:
"It is with a heavy heart that I share some tragic news: Kenneth Andreu, a long-time faculty member within our Aviation Maintenance Technology program, has passed away.
We know this news will be difficult for some of you and particularly for those who had classes with or worked closely with Ken. If you need support, counseling services are available today at the Aviation Education Center. Support is also available at the Counseling Center at our main campus in Poughkeepsie. Faculty and staff also have access to confidential support, available through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) at 1-800-252-4555.
At this time, we do not have information regarding memorial services. We will share with the community when we learn of a service open to the public."
