A child in Dutchess County is safe this morning after being rescued from a local pool.

The incident happened Tuesday at Beacon High School.

Fire officials said a 10-year-old girl got her finger trapped in a small opening in the side of the pool, likely a drainage hole.

Crews drained some of the water and cut away part of the pool structure to free the child.

She had minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
