Transforming, rebuilding and repurposing is exactly what is happening in Glen Ridge.

Volunteers in Glen Ridge are working together to transform what will soon be the Essex Hudson Greenway.

They have started by removing trash on what will soon be a 9-mile-long path through eight towns. The path will stretch from Glen Ridge to Jersey City, turning the old rail line into a location for walking, biking, and jogging.

The first section spanning from Newark to Kearny is expected to open later this year.

It is unknown when the entire transformation will be complete but process to becoming a state park is underway.
