Where were you in 1974?

That was the year Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth’s home run record. The country switched presidents earlier than expected. And Pizza & Brew opened its doors on Central Avenue in Scarsdale.

After a fire forced the restaurant to close in January, it’s now back open — and celebrating by rolling back prices to 1974.

Spaghetti and meatballs for $1.95, Chicken parmesan for $2.55 and a beer for just 55 cents.
To mark its reopening, Pizza & Brew decided to thank the community that has supported it for more than five decades by offering menu items at the same prices customers paid when the restaurant first opened in 1974.

Manager JD Feeback says some people thought the idea was crazy, but he says it was their way of giving back after the community stood by them through the fire and reopening process.

The reopening also means much-needed relief for employees who were without income for five weeks while repairs were made and permits were secured.

For longtime staff members like bartender Ida Melendez, who has worked there for 10 years, the restaurant feels like a second home. Servers say they’re simply grateful to be back at work and welcoming customers again.

And customers are loving the blast from the past — with some joking they wish they’d been born in the 1970s to enjoy prices like these more often.

The retro pricing promotion continues through Thursday.
