One person is in serious condition after an accident Thursday in Yonkers.

Police said a pedestrian ran into the side of a southbound moving vehicle just before 9 a.m. on Nepperhan Avenue. The person suffered a head injury and was taken to a local hospital.

The driver stopped shortly after the collision and spoke with officers. Police said the case is being handled as an accident with no criminal aspect at this time.

Part of Nepperhan Avenue was closed for a period in the Carpet Mills District.
