Residents in Yonkers have mixed opinions about how the city handled this week's snowstorm.

"The snow was very heavy, so I don't think they did too much of a bad job," says resident Patrick Pompey.

"The city's plowing was good on the main roads, but on the back street it wasn't so good," says resident Charly Hubi.

Hubi lives on a back street called Sommerville Place.

His dad, Celal, says the two-way street turned into a one-way after the storm.

"I think they did a terrible job. I think the mayor should resign," Celal says.

Mayor Mike Spano says he disagrees with the residents who are critiquing his crews.

"This was a reasonable storm. We had 12 inches of snow dumped on us. I think our crews did a great job in pushing the snow," Spano says.

Spano says cold temperatures and blocked roads also played a role in their response.

"It was really difficult, this storm, to keep a number of our streets clear, like the snow emergency routes," Spano says. "There was just cars parked and plows we're not able to clean the snow curb-to-curb."

The mayor and other neighbors are asking for patience as crews continue clearing streets.

"The plows are doing their jobs. The people who are just coming out, after the plows, just need to be respectful where they place the snow," says another resident in Yonkers.

City officials say they will start snow removal on Friday in areas like Warburton Avenue.

If cars are parked there, city officials say they will be ticketed and towed.
