Last-minute holiday travelers throughout the Hudson Valley headed out Wednesday to spend time with loved ones ahead of Christmas Day.

According to AAA, millions of Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home over the holidays.

AAA said traffic would be minimal on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Some travelers whom News 12 spoke with said that they actually opted to take the train for a couple reasons. One is because they aren’t going far to see loved ones, and the other is because they would rather just avoid any traffic.

According to AAA, if you plan on driving home on Friday Dec. 26, it’s best to hit the road sometime before 11 a.m. If you leave after that, just keep an eye out for any delays and/or traffic.

It’s also important to keep an eye out for any potential snowstorm that may be making its way to the Hudson Valley.
