The mayor of Nyack announced his campaign for the state Senate.

Democrat Joe Rand says he plans to run against Republican incumbent Bill Weber in the 38th District.

Rand says he has a strong record of problem-solving, fiscal responsibility and a commitment to making government work for the people it serves.

He says as mayor, he secured millions in funding for a variety of projects and kept the village within the 2% tax cap.

Sen. Weber says he welcomes any opponents and highlighted his strong record of results, community engagement, and bipartisan leadership since taking office in Jan. 2023.
