Snowfall leads to dozens of crashes across Orange County
Drivers in several towns said roads quickly became difficult to navigate as the snow came down.

The season’s first snowstorm caused dangerous travel across Orange County on Tuesday, leading to dozens of crashes and slide-offs on roads from Monroe to Woodbury and New Windsor.
As of mid-afternoon, the Orange County Office of Emergency Management reported 155 accidents, most involving property damage, although several crashes that resulted in injuries were also confirmed.
A minor fender bender in Monroe and a spinout on County Route 105 in Woodbury were among the incidents captured by News 12.
Drivers in several towns said roads quickly became difficult to navigate as the snow came down.
Some drivers told News 12 they struggled even with all-wheel drive.
“It’s very slick even with four-wheel drive you gotta take it easy,” said Kevin Fisher, of New Windsor.
Others described roads that they felt weren't treated.
“I almost went through a stop sign with full brakes on. You don’t have much traction," said Pat Shea, of Monroe.
In the Town of Cornwall, Department of Public Works crews spent the afternoon loading salt and sand to get ahead of the storm.
Authorities warned that slick and icy spots could continue into the evening as temperatures fall.
