A ceremony at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point to honor actor and veterans advocate Tom Hanks has been canceled.

Hanks was scheduled to receive the Sylvanus Thayer Award from the West Point Association of Graduates on Sept. 25.

A parade and ceremony were planned for that day.

It's not known if Hanks will still receive the award.

News 12 reached out to West Point but has not heard back. Attempts to contact the alumni association were unsuccessful due to a full voicemail inbox.
