Hector Cartagena, a former Yonkers police sergeant, was found not guilty of assaulting a man during an arrest in 2024.
The verdict was announced by a Westchester County Court judge, who presided over the non-jury trial.
Cartagena was indicted on charges of second-degree assault, attempted assault in the second-degree – both felonies – and assault in the third-degree.
In March 2024, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office claimed the suspect led police on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash near Warburton and Glenwood avenues in Yonkers.
