White Plains held its annual Independence Day celebration Wednesday night.

Thousands gathered for the event.

The free event was at White Plains High School and featured fireworks.

People set up chairs and blankets hours before the event started.

The White Plains Recreation and Parks Department says this event was planned months in advance and it always brings the community together.
