Across Westchester on Sunday, families were out celebrating the dads and father figures with everything from family outings and new hobbies to emotional firsts and viral TikTok surprises.
At Ridge Hill, Diego Uzhca and his son Jahzayah picked out a brand-new bike, kicking off a new weekend tradition.
“Going to hit the road and see what we can find and what we can get ourselves into,” said Diego. “Now on the weekends, that gives us something to do and to be outdoors.”
Jahzayah described his dad simply “so kind.”
“Whenever I ask for something, he’ll try his best to get it for me,” he said.
Neil Peters marked his very first Father’s Day with a shopping trip and lunch.
“It’s an honor to celebrate your first Father’s Day out with your family. It means a lot to me,” Peters said.
And in Ardsley, Jim Hughes celebrated while preparing for a barbecue, fresh off a viral moment.
“As a dad, you’re like, ‘Hey, we’ll go to a ball game,’ but I didn’t realize she was going to bring me to the front row,” Hughes said.
His daughter and son surprised the big Mets fan with front-row seats on Saturday.
“The moment was like, ‘Oh my God.’ I couldn’t keep it together. I want to thank everybody, it went viral. I don’t even know anything about TikTok. I’ve never even been on TikTok,” he shared.
