St. Patrick's Day celebrations begin on McLean Avenue in Yonkers

Hundreds gathered Monday on Yonkers' "Emerald Mile" to partake in St. Patrick Day festivities, days ahead of the city's St. Patrick's Day Parade.

In Yonkers, hundreds of people gathered Monday to celebrate Irish heritage and culture.

McLean Avenue, also known as the Emerald Mile, is known for its Irish restaurants and establishments which offer authentic food and music for all ages.

This is just a taste of what will be happening on Saturday, when the 68th Annual Yonkers Saint Patrick's Day Parade comes to town.

This year, over 140 organizations will be participating, with thousands expected to show up.

The parade will begin at 1 p.m. on McLean Avenue.
