The City of Yonkers will pay $800,000 to settle a child abuse lawsuit brought by a former Lincoln High School student.

Patricia Adamchek filed the lawsuit against the school in 2020. In it, she claimed that she was sexually abused at the age of 15 by Lou Dirienzo, a health teacher and football coach.

Adamchek says the abuse that took place in the 1980s resulted in her suffering from depression and anxiety.

Officials say Dirienzo became a coach at New Rochelle High School after leaving Lincoln High. He was reassigned after 30 years and eventually resigned.

The settlement was approved in July. A spokesperson stated that it was best to settle the case given that it occurred decades ago and evidence is no longer available.
