The city of Newburgh says there isn’t any evidence that sensitive personal information for citizens or employees was impacted after a cybersecurity attack last month.

In the incident which took place on June 10, an unauthorized third-party accessed a portion of the city’s network systems and held sensitive information and city operations at ransom.

City officials say they have been working with independent cybersecurity experts who have taken preparations prior to the incident which allowed them to respond and investigate the attack.

According to authorities, all current security protocols are being reviewed and additional security measures will be added as needed.

Additionally, federal, state and local law enforcement agencies have since been notified and a criminal investigation is ongoing.
