Two Kingston High School students are dead and another is in the hospital after a crash in Mount Tremper Monday morning, according to the Kingston City School District.

The school says counseling is available for students who were shaken up and want to talk about it.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Paul J. Padalino released the following statement:

It is with a heavy heart that we reach out to inform you of a devastating automobile accident that occurred earlier today in Mt. Tremper, resulting in the loss of two Kingston High School students with another student being hospitalized. Our hearts ache as we process this tragic news, and our love and support go out to all those affected by this unimaginable loss.

We recognize that events of this nature can evoke a range of emotions and may be especially challenging for our students, staff, and families to navigate. The KCSD Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team—made up of social workers, psychologists, nurses, counselors, and safety personnel trained to help students, staff, and families in traumatic times—has been deployed. The CISM Team will be available all day in all buildings until further notice. Those in need can access these resources by calling Kingston High School Principal Dr. Rachael Scorca at 845-943-3701.

We encourage families to talk openly with their children about their feelings and reassure them that it's okay to seek help if needed. Additionally, please be mindful of any signs of distress or changes in behavior that your child may exhibit and reach out to our school counselors or administration for assistance.

As we navigate through this challenging period, let us come together as a community to support one another and extend our deepest sympathies to those affected by this tragedy.
