Guide: Take steps to prevent rabies infection with these tips

According to sources, the animal group "Four Legs Good" provided a kitten to a foster parent for care. This kitten came into contact with students and staff at Summit School, subsequently falling ill.

The kitten was evaluated by a vet and had to be euthanized. Tests later confirmed the presence of rabies.

Good Samaritan Hospital is providing vaccinations to affected students and staff members.

Officials from Rockland County's Department of Health have identified all contacts.

"Four Legs Good" was unaware that a symptomatic kitten had been placed in a school classroom.
