State police: Palisades Interstate Parkway crash leaves Canadian man in serious condition
Police say 28-year-old Montreal resident Usher Schwartz was driving at a high rate of speed at around 8:30 a.m. when he left the road, traveled into the center median and struck a tree near Exit 17 in Stony Point.

State police say a Canadian man is in serious condition after a crash that ultimately involved three other vehicles on the Palisades Interstate Parkway Thursday.
Police say 28-year-old Montreal resident Usher Schwartz was driving at a high rate of speed at around 8:30 a.m. when he left the road, traveled into the center median and struck a tree near Exit 17 in Stony Point.
The tree caught on fire following the collision, authorities say. Pieces from the front end of the vehicle also broke loose and struck three other vehicles in the northbound lanes.
Police say Schwartz was pulled from his vehicle by motorists. He is currently in serious condition at the Westchester Medical Center.
The occupants of the other vehicles did not require any medical attention, according to authorities.
State police say an investigation is ongoing. They also thank the motorists who aided the occupants of the vehicles involved in the accident.
