An experiment done by Red Hook High School students is heading to the International Space Station.
The project by the five students was called "Examining Artemia Salina Hatching in the Presence of Microgravity."
One of the students researched the subject and she said NASA did research on microgravity's effect on humans and that's why they decided on brine shrimp.
Experiments typically remain at the ISS for typically four to six weeks and then the students collect and analyze data.
The students will look at the hatching rate and development of the shrimp.
The launch is expected to take place no earlier than December.
