2 reputed MS-13 gang members sentenced for Uniondale murder

Luis Alejandro Varela and William Reyes-Fuentes pleaded guilty to the machete murder of Carlos Rivas-Majano in 2017.

Two alleged MS-13 gang members were sentenced Tuesday for their roles in a fatal Uniondale attack.
Luis Alejandro Varela and William Reyes-Fuentes pleaded guilty to the machete murder of Carlos Rivas-Majano in 2017.
His body was found along the Meadowbrook Parkway a year later.
Varela was sentenced to 21 years, and Reyes-Fuentes was sentenced to 20 years.
Cases for three other people who were allegedly involved in the brutal murder are pending.
The sixth person involved was sentenced in 2019 to 32 years to life in prison.
