Two men were arrested in connection with the death of a Westchester Philharmonic violinist.
Mary Elizabeth Whitaker, 61, was found dead Wednesday in her summer home in Westfield, just south of Buffalo. Friends found her body after they went to check on her when they could not reach her by phone.
Police say Whitaker interrupted a burglary in her home and was shot in the chest and leg. Police later found her car in Erie, Pennsylvania and arrested two men.
Whitaker had performed with the Westchester Philharmonic for at least 25 years. She performed with another symphony orchestra in upstate New York in the summer.
Prosecutors say the two suspects face federal carjacking and weapons charges.
