The 158th Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade brought communities from all over the city to Bay Ridge.
Hundreds of parade participants marched to music, performed, and carried flags to support their school or business.
"Today is a day of solemn reflection, but it's also a day of celebration for the lives who have been lost in defense of our freedom. And so being here, there probably is no better place to be," said Major General Kris A. Belanger, this year's grand marshal. "I just want to say, 'Thank you' to everybody for their support. We don't do what we do without the support of our communities. And so I just want to say, 'Thank you.'"
This parade is the oldest, most continuously run Memorial Day parade in the country.
