Twelve Byram Hills High School students won awards in the Westchester-Rockland Junior Science and Humanities Symposium.

Local winners include Samantha Schaevitz and Remi Matza, who won first place for medicine and health, and Lindsay Miller who won for behavior.  Peter Mon came in second place for math/computer science. 

Eight students who won at the regional event will compete at the state symposium in March.

A total of 22 seniors competed in the competition held last Saturday at John Jay High School in Cross River.

In March, Caleb, Alaska, Chloe and Ethan will compete as presenters at the Upstate New York Junior Science and Humanities Symposium in Albany for a place at the national JSHS competition in Virginia in April. Max and Aliza will present their posters in Albany.
