One person was fatally shot after two incidents involving gunfire in Mount Vernon Monday night.
The first shots rang out just before 6 p.m. outside East Prospect and Park avenues. Police say one man was shot in the street. He was dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
About a half-hour later, more gunfire was heard at 174 Beechwood Ave. Police say shots were fired at the home. No one was hurt.
The victim's name has not yet been released.
