Relatives and friends are mourning a Yonkers man who was gunned down on a Harlem street Sunday as police ask for the public's help to solve the case.
According to police, Oumar Zongo, 23, was stopped at a light on Second Avenue when a light-colored sedan with tinted windows pulled up and opened fire after midnight.
Zongo was shot in the torso. His front-seat passenger suffered a leg injury. Another passenger was also in the vehicle.
Zongo, whose relatives are believed to be African missionaries, lived in Yonkers. Neighbors remember the young man was working to get his GED.
"He was an honest man, true character, good inspiration," said Christopher Davis. "He was an all-around good person ? I was proud to have known him."
Below the family's apartment, a convenience store put up candles in memory of Zongo.
Zongo's relatives were too distraught to speak to News 12.
