Rye police are urging residents to exercise caution following a recent car burglary.

Authorities report that two suspects stole personal belongings from an unlocked BMW around 2 a.m. last Sunday.

Police records show 14 vehicles were stolen last year, with 99 thefts since 2020. Notably, every vehicle stolen in 2020 had the keys left inside.

In light of these incidents, law enforcement officials stress the importance of taking precautions. They advise individuals to always carry their keys, lock their vehicle doors and secure valuables to prevent further thefts.
