As the coronavirus crisis evolves, hot spots, or areas where the virus is most prevalent, are popping up all over Long Island.
In Nassau County, the most cases have been recorded in Woodmere, which is part of the Five Towns. The Nassau Department of Health says 192 people have tested positive there.
In Suffolk, the highest number of positive coronavirus tests have been recorded in Huntington Station, with 178 cases alone.
Other hot spots in Nassau have been identified in Valley Steam, Elmont, Hempstead, East Meadow, Hicksville and Levittown. Each of these communities have more than 100 cases.
Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says no communities have been spared, and that work is being done right now to slow the spread, especially in areas that are most affected.
Residents in Huntington Station say it's alarming that the area currently has the most cases in Suffolk. Other coronavirus hot spots in Suffolk include Huntington, Brentwood and Bay Shore.
Each of those communities have reported more than 100 confirmed cases. Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone says the numbers are still coming in, and that no official problem areas have been identified yet.
It's not clear why those areas are seeing more people test positive for coronavirus, though many of communities mentioned are densely populated.
Officials advise that no matter where you live to stay home and wash your hands regularly.
