Dozens of people gathered Monday in Valhalla to remember a West Harrison serviceman killed in Afghanistan.

A plaque was unveiled at Kensico Dam to honor Air National Guard Technical Sgt. and NYPD Detective Joseph Lemm, who was killed in a suicide attack last December.

The 45-year-old husband and father of two who had the nickname "Superman" was called a hero as he was remembered for his bravery and courage.

This past weekend, Lemm and Staff Sgt. Louis Bonacasa, who was also killed in the December attack, were honored at a ceremony at the 105th Airlift Wing at Stewart Air National Guard Base. Lemm and Bonacasa were posthumously awarded various commendations, including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals.
