A new walk-in justice center in Westchester says it is seeing an uptick in the number of people seeking legal advice amid the #MeTtoo movement.

The phone calls and foot traffic have increased in the two months since the Pace Women's Justice Center moved into its new office space on the campus of Pace Law School in White Plains.

“We thought maybe we would get 10 or 15 people the first month. We got 29 people. The second month, which would be July, we think we're going to have 40 people,” says the center’s executive director Cindy Kanusher.

The nonprofit provides free legal services to clients on issues such as domestic violence, sexual assault and harassment, and elder abuse.

Officials say the uptick is due in part to the #MeToo movement. The movement against sexual harassment and assault spread virally last fall, after allegations of sexual misconduct against former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

Dozens of high-profile actresses accused Weinstein of inappropriate behavior. He has denied the allegations.

The majority of the clients served at the center are women, but it does offer help to men as well.

The walk-in legal center is expected to serve more than 500 clients a year.
