Officials say a Brooklyn cab driver took his own life after running out of money to lease his vehicle.
The New York Taxi Workers Alliance says 59-year-old Abdul Saleh was found dead in his rented room Friday.
According to the union, Saleh is the sixth driver to die by suicide in the past six months.
The union says he didn't have enough money to continue working 12 hour shifts.
He was short by $300.
Drivers lease the yellow cabs that are now competing with a number of ride sharing services.
