A Rockland yeshiva is closing its doors for good after a string of health code violations officials say put the children who attend at risk.

The Bobover Yeshiva, a school for young children located on Route 306 in Ramapo, received a number of fines when the Health Department inspected the home Aug. 13. Violations included blocked emergency exits, electrical problems and mouse feces.

For neighbors, the final straw came in May when a cow was slaughtered in the backyard where the children play. The congregation paid a $5,000 fine for allowing the slaughter, but still faces at least another $10,000 in fines from other violations.

The yeshiva plans to close Sept. 1. Its students will be moving to a yeshiva in Spring Valley.
