Tristate area on high alert after new ISIS video
Commuters in Westchester say even though a new video released by ISIS warns of an impending attack on New York City, they plan on going about their lives as usual.
The terror organization released its latest propaganda video Wednesday, which shows a man zipping up his coat with what appears to be a bomb strapped to his body. The video then goes on to show images of Times Square and Herald Square.
An NYPD spokesman says in a statement some of the video footage is old, but the video reaffirms the message that the city remains a top terrorist target. He says the police department will remain vigilant and continue to work with the FBI and the intelligence community.
Commuters in Yonkers say they're not overly concerned about heading into Manhattan. "There was never any thought about changing my daily routine," says Aubrey Watson. "It's an unlikely event, it's sad it happened, but that can't change our daily lives."
Still, others say they will be extra careful. "Just make sure you're vigilant, pay attention to your surrounding individuals, understand traits, just pay attention," says Charles Brown.
NYPD officials say in recent days they've been getting more calls from people asking them to come check out something that might be suspicious. About 3 million people are expected to be in the city for the parade a week from today and an additional 1,300 officers assigned to counterterrorism-related units are expected to be dispatched to the parade.
Mayor Bill de Blasio says residents should continue to "live their lives, and enjoy the greatest city in the world."
