There is growing concern in Mount Vernon after more samples show soil in Memorial Field is contaminated.

The State Department of Environmental Conservation tested the soil on two separate occasions this year and found a number of toxins, including coal, slag and ash.

Mayor-elect Richard Thomas say someone needs to be held accountable. "This is a crime happening before our eyes. I'm hoping that those responsible will have to pay," says Thomas.

Thomas is seeking a court order to stop all work being done at Memorial Field ordered by current Mayor Ernie Davis. He is also calling on the state attorney general to investigate the renovation project.
