Town scraps massive East Farmingdale Vision Project
The Town of Babylon has decided to scrap a massive development proposal for East Farmingdale.
The proposal, known as the East Farmingdale Vision Project, would have created 109 acres of mixed-use buildings, some rising more than 60 feet high and containing nearly 2,700 apartments near Route 110 and Conklin Street.
The Town of Babylon says it's scrapping the redevelopment plan after residents told them it was just too much for the area.
"I can't blame them. Conklin and 110 is a very busy area," says Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer.
The town says it's still considering development of the area, but will look at smaller projects on a parcel-by-parcel basis.
"We remain hopeful that the Town will rethink its position on the matter, making edits to the draft code rather than suspending the project," project planner Victor Dover said in a statement.
