While many residents are happy that Greenburgh will soon be home to a Tesla car showroom, some say it comes at the expense of some local businesses.
Earlier this week, a number of businesses announced that they are permanently closed at the Hillside Plaza on Tarrytown Road in Greenburgh, including a deli that had been there for 25 years. They say they are closing because of the showroom.
Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner, tells News 12 that the idea was first proposed about a year ago, and he thinks Greenburgh will benefit from the Tesla Electric Car showroom.
"It will help the entire 119 corridor because when people see a quality business coming into the community, then it attracts other quality businesses,” says Feiner.
Silvestro Musilli, whose family has run La Manda's Restaurant across the street for nearly 50 years, said a Joyce Leslie clothing store that had rented out most of the building that Tesla will soon occupy closed down a number of years ago and the store has remained vacant.
Sleepy's posted numerous signs outside of their storefront to let their customers know that they moved down the street, but as far as all of the other businesses in the building go, their futures remain unknown.
