A teenager faces charges in the execution-style shooting death of a man in Mount Vernon last month.
Police arrested 18-year-old Robert Lewis at his home Saturday in the slaying of 20-year-old Reginald Rogers. Rogers was shot at E. 4th Street and Union Avenue on April 24.
Police said they found a fully loaded .380-caliber pistol, the same weapon used to murder Rogers, when they arrested Lewis. However, police said another weapon may have been involved. According to investigators, a recent anti-violence youth rally helped police develop leads in the case.
"It was one person claiming to be a member of the Bloods and another person claiming to be a member of the Crips. It was over nonsense," Mount Vernon Police Commissioner David Chong said about the incident.
A neighbor of the suspect described Lewis as a respectful young man who never caused trouble.
Lewis is charged with second-degree murder and weapons possession. He is being held without bail at the Westchester County Jail.
