Suffolk Executive Bellone: 5,023 coronavirus cases reported in county, with 40 virus-related deaths
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone says there are 5,023 cases of coronavirus in the county, with 40-virus related deaths.
 
BRIEFING NOTES:
- Bellone says there was an almost 900-case increase in just 24 hours.
- Over 2,000 people were tested Saturday. Bellone says 5,000 people alone have been tested at Stony Brook University.
- Over 500 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19. Bellone says 168 ICU beds are currently occupied.
- Bellone says hospital capacity has slightly increased, with 711 hospital beds and 71 ICU beds available.
- There have been 160 reports of non-compliance. Bellone says 14 of the reports were found to be in non-compliance, but complied when prompted.
- The first Suffolk officer to test positive for coronavirus returned to work Sunday. Bellone says 24 Suffolk officers have tested positive for coronavirus.
- Bellone says a man in his 30s, with underlying health conditions, died from coronavirus. He is the youngest person in Suffolk County to die from virus-related causes.
