Students at Ossining High School were spreading love and awareness this Valentine's Day.
It's part of the P.S. I Love You Day campaign.
"It started from Brooke and Jamie DiPalma, two girls that suddenly lost their father to suicide. And they turned this tragedy into a wonderful campaign that promotes kindness, suicide awareness and bullying prevention and just overall mental health awareness," explains teacher Francesca Davide.
A decade after the campaign began, students are still sharing its message. The P.S. I Love You Day campaign is being celebrated in 220 schools internationally.
In Ossining, the school is sharing positive reinforcements and placing a banner in the high school with a constant reminder to never give up.
Rosa Velez is a tenth grader who is sharing how her personal trials turned into a story of triumph.
"I was really depressed in middle school, and when I joined this program, I started to find myself having better mental health and knowing how to deal with my problems a lot more then I used to," says Velez.
"That's what we need in the high school, because we don't know what everyone goes through and it's good to be there for everyone," says student Kasandra Molina.
If you or someone you know needs help, call the Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
