Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a new executive order Saturday that blocks COVID-19 paid sick leave to New Yorkers who travel to high-risk areas.
The governor says anyone who voluntarily travels to a high-risk state or country will be ineligible for the paid sick leave if they become ill. This includes any area where there's more than 10% positive COVID-19 test rate.
The announcement follows officials saying that a Westchester high school student who recently traveled to Florida returned to attend their graduation ceremony.
The student later tested positive for COVID-19, as did several others who attended the ceremony and a Field Night celebration.
