A community is in shock after two children and two adults were found dead in a Pleasantville home in a triple murder-suicide.
Police were called around 2 p.m. to 57 Romer Ave. Thursday to perform a welfare check. They were called to the home after school officials said the children were not in attendance.
Officers went into the home and found two children and two adults dead at the scene. Officials say Tom Liu, 46, killed his wife 42-year-old Dorothy Liu and their two children, 4-year-old Adeline and 7-year-old Tennyson, with a knife. They say he then took his own life.
Police would not identify a motive, but tell News 12 that Tom Liu was under a considerable amount of stress.
During a press conference, Pleasantville Mayor Peter Scherer shared in the community's heartbreak over the incident.
"Everybody stood up today and said that this is a horrible tragic moment for all of us," Scherer said. "A circumstance that none of us expected to be in and hope to never be in again."

Tom Liu was a project manager and business analyst in financial services at MUFG, a Japanese bank and financial services company.
MUFG sent a statement to News 12 that reads, "We are greatly saddened by the tragic loss of Tom Liu and his family. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to their family, friends and colleagues during this most difficult time. We are working to support our employees affected by this tragedy in any way we can."
The murder-suicide happened at the family's home near both the Pleasantville high school and middle school.
District Superintendent Mary Fox-Alter told News 12 she met with faculty Friday to provide guidance and support to students and teachers.
News 12 is told extended family members are traveling to the area as the community continues to mourn. A prayer service is being held at a local church and high school students are planning a vigil.
