Pleasantville community is grieving after a family of four was found dead in an apparent murder-suicide Thursday afternoon.
Sources tell News 12 that one of the victims was a second grade student at Bedford Road Elementary School.
The superintendent of Pleasantville Union Free School District, Mary Fox-Alter, says the school will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for families who need to speak with a clinical team.
Neighbors say they are heartbroken to learn of what was going on right next door to what they describe as a "beautiful family."
"We all support each other, we've had tragedies here--nothing like this," one woman said. "I just hope we can all support each other and come together."
Members of the community say they never would have suspected anything and that the family always appeared happy.
The Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health says warning signs can carry a lot of weight.
"We want to make sure that the people in the community know that they can reach out to us and we can connect them with the services they need," said Joseph Glazer, of the Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health.
The school recommends that those looking to talk to their children about the incident look at tips from the National Association of School Psychologists.
