Police say a sixth person has been charged in connection to the Pleasantville High School football game shooting - and he also happens to be one of the victims.
Ibn Abdullah, 27, is facing weapons charges. Police say they believe Abdullah was the intended target of the shooting and was one of the three people shot during the mayhem.
Abdullah is currently listed as being in critical condition at AtlanticCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City.
Police say a 15-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet and was treated and released. They say a 10-year-old boy is still fighting for his life at Cooper University Hospital.
Pleasantville Mayor Jesse L. Tweedle Sr. tells News 12 in a statement, "Our heart goes out to the victims and their families. This does not define who we are its how we respond to it. I can honestly say that the response has been overwhelming. I've had mayors call me, Sen. Booker's office called me, I've had bishops call me and pray on the phone, this has been unbelievable."
Just after the shooting, Alvin Wyatt, from Atlantic City, was apprehended just yards away from where police say he unleashed gunfire.
Police say four other men did escape officers but were located and arrested after a brief pursuit by Absecon police.
The Pleasantville Greyhounds and the Camden Panthers will be able to complete the last 17 minutes of their playoff game Wednesday at a neutral field. The event is closed to the public.
"To be clear, the decision to complete the approximately 17 minutes remaining in this game was made by both schools. It was based not on any desire for an athletic championship, but to provide closure," the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association said in a statement, "and send a powerful message that acts of violence and those who perpetrate them will not win. The outcome of this game will be decided where it should be – on the playing field."
