Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee! A group of children is learning how to box in Brooklyn.
The group of boxing novices is learning the sport free of charge thanks to Boxer, Inc., founded by Mustada Abdullah.
Abdullah tells News 12 he offers free after-school boxing and education programs for New York City youth during the year, but this summer he teamed up with Brooklyn Youth Sports Camp to hold a special summer camp.
The camp is held at Bishop Loughlin High School and will continue to run for another month.
Children in the program learn the basics of boxing, conditioning and discipline.

“Learning the basic forms and basic stance and punches of boxing and then we go to using the gloves and pad work,” says Abdullah. “I believe that all of our student athletes can really benefit from understanding what it really takes to do something consistently and develop over time.”

He says he has been able to offer this free program and the one during the year thanks to the Nike Community Impact Fund from the Flatbush Nike Community Store.
After applying for the grant with Nike, Abdullah says he's received more than $7,000 allowing him to expand the after-school boxing program to Bedford-Stuyvesant and Brownsville, doubling the number of children participating.
