500 tons of sand brought in from Caribbean for Mt. Vernon beach

MOUNT VERNON -

People in Mount Vernon are getting the chance to have some fun in the sand right at home.

The outdoor space has nearly 500 tons of premium sand straight from the Caribbean.

It will be used as an entertainment venue for a variety of events.

City officials say the beach is just one way they are hoping to transform Mount Vernon into a destination for entertainment.
