The woman charged in connection to a GoFundMe scam that raised more than $400,000 has pleaded guilty of theft by deception.

Kate McClure took a plea deal offered by prosecutors.

According to prosecutors, McClure and her then-boyfriend, Mark D'Amico, made up a story back in 2017 about homeless veteran Johnny Bobbitt.

Prosecutors say the story involved Bobbitt giving $20 to help McClure when her car ran out of gas in Philadelphia.

The group pocketed the money donated by those who were touched by the effort. More than 14,000 donors contributed through GoFundMe, ostensibly to help Bobbitt. 

The couple claimed the cash would be donated to Bobbitt, but authorities say the three split the money and spent lavishly, including on a BMW, designer bags, and trips to Las Vegas and elsewhere.

As part of her plea deal, McClure must testify against D'Amico.

She could face four years behind bars when she's sentenced in June.
