A school bus aide has been fired after a video surfaced of her confrontation with an elementary school student was caught on video.
The video, which was filmed by another student on board the bus, shows the aide and a 9-year-old boy arguing with one another. Both the aide and the student can be heard using profanities.
"You must act like that to your parents. I bet they beat your [expletive] every night. I know your father does,” the unidentified aide is heard saying.
The boy is heard calling the aide a profane word, and she appears to grab him.
“Say it again. Call me a [expletive] again,” the aide is heard saying. “I’ll put your [expletive] head through the window if you say it again.”
It was unclear what sparked the confrontation.
Linden School Superintendent Danny Robertozzi condemned what happened on the bus.
“Parents should be able to feel secure in knowing that their children are protected from the time they leave for school until the time they arrive home. As a parent and educator, I am appalled at the way our student was treated. This behavior will not be tolerated,” he said in a statement.
School administrators say that the aide was an employee of a contracted bus company. They say that her employment was terminated immediately.
The parents of the student involved have filed a police report.
