Police are questioning a Selden man accused of robbing two Suffolk gas stations to see if he is connected to other recent robberies in the county.
Suffolk police say Devon Tyme Jr., 25, held up two gas stations at gunpoint on Route 112.
One of those incidents occurred at a Sunoco station in Coram on Oct. 7 around 9:45 a.m. It was captured on surveillance footage.
The other robbery occurred at the Speedway station Saturday morning, less than 2 miles away in Port Jefferson Station. Workers at that gas station say the attendant fought back during the incident. They say the suspect pulled the trigger twice, but the gun did not go off.
Suffolk Police Chief Stuart Cameron says Tyme is being questioned to see if he can be connected to other robberies, including one at a St. James gas station earlier this month.
“They want to thoroughly investigate and make sure there's no other crimes he may have committed while we have him in custody,” says Cameron.
Tyme is being charged with robbery, as well as attempted robbery. He is expected to be arraigned Thursday.
Two other suspects were recently arrested in a separate string of robberies in the Medford area.
