Officials in Greenwich have finalized a relocation plan for hundreds of students whose classrooms were damaged by water.
The Cos Cob School has been closed all week after the damage was discovered over the weekend.
The damage was due to a broken sink handle that caused water to flow for almost 24 hours. It resulted in an estimated $1.7 million in damages.
Officials told parents Thursday night that it could be late December before all repairs are made.
"We're not taking any chances with them, so we're going to empty the first two floors of the building, do the remediation, then rebuild," says Greenwich Interim Superintendent Ralph Mayo.
Beginning Monday, all four kindergarten classes will be transferred to Parkway School.
First and second-grade students will be moved to Old Greenwich School.
The remaining students in grades three through five will stay at Cos Cob, but all classes will be moved to the third floor, away from the damage.
Mayo says they will have extra security at Cos Cob to make sure students and repair crews do not get in each other's way.
Buses will still drop students off at the school, but then other buses will take them to their temporary schools.
Extra traffic officers will also be at Cos Cob for all of the buses.
